Inspired by ball gowns of the 1860's with a generous helping of fantasy, this ensemble was made for November 2018 production of The Goblin Ball, held in Melbourne's iconic Melba Spiegeltent.
Made using navy panne velvet, dance satin lining, silk blend for the big bow, French motifs embroidered on the under skirt and plenty of lace! Rhinestones have been applied to the gold lace and netting top. Tear drop gems hang from the white lace on the bodice. Tear drop faux pearls and real oval freshwater pearls, tear drop crystals decorate the included pouch. The bustle cushion is made of a calico outer and stuffed with wool.
The outfit is modular, so you can interchange this outfit with other elements. The skirt is three pieces, the bodice and netting top underneath are separate and then there's a bustle cushion and drawstring pouch as well.
With plenty of fabric in the skirt, movement across stage is barely restricted. The bodice is strengthened using stiff interfacing. No boning is used in the bodice, and it is suggested that a strong corset is worn as a foundation garment to support the outfit.
Only worn once for this performance, with minimal impact on the garments as it was indoors. Price is discounted to move quickly, as there is no need of this outfit for future performances. No components will be split up from the outfit.
Pocket watch not included.
