Find many of my hand made nalbinded hats here! Nalbinding is the Viking Age (and earlier!) equivalent of knitting, although the technique differs significantly. Please check the descriptions below
Multi tone Beige. Made from three different spun wool yarns, and made on Oslo stitch. Fits up to a 54cm head comfortably.
Yellow/Orange/Red. This hat is made using the excess threads for one of our weaving projects, to help reduce the amount of material that goes to waste. It is very possible that Vikings themselves used this kind of thrift, as it would make sense that the short lengths of yarn used in naalbinding could come from other projects. Made using Oslo stitch.Fits up to a 58cm head circumference.
Blue. Made with 8 ply wool, in York stitch. Fits up to 64cm head circumference.
Cream. Made in York stitch, with a single spun yarn. This is an old stock item, and has a light stain (see picture). This is undyed yarn.
Cream/brown spiral. Made in York Stitch for a head circumference 60 - 62cm.
